Alternative Treatment Approaches For The Management Of Diabetes: Role Of Soursop Leaves And Spirulina As Antidiabetic Agents.

Venu S

Year: 2021 | Conference Paper | Publisher: Scitech Conference Xplorer

Abstract:

Hyperglycaemia is a hallmark of diabetes mellitus (DM) and describes the abnormal physiological state in which blood glucose levels remain in excess for an extended period. In 2019, diabetes was expected to affect 9.3 percent of the world's adult population or 463 million people. This ranges from persons 20 to 79 years old. There are several types of diabetes mellitus, including Type 1 (T1DM), Type 2 (T2DM), Gestational (GDM), and Neonatal (Neo) diabetes. Comorbid disorders increase the risk of diabetes in young people, and these risks are worsened by genetic and environmental variables such as inheritance, changes in lifestyle, age, smoking, etc. Problems with insulin production, insulin action, or both lead to hyperglycaemia, which manifests as intermittent and persistent alterations in glucose, lipid, and protein metabolism. People at risk for developing type 2 diabetes can be identified through screenings, and timely treatment can delay or prevent the onset of the condition. The plasma glucose levels and haemoglobin A1C test play crucial roles in the initial diagnosis. Therefore, the goal of this review was to report the various studies conducted on the complications associated with developing diabetes in young adults, while also bringing attention to the risk factors and the importance of early detection. Types associated with diabetes and challenges in its diagnosis and treatment in young people are also discussed in this study. In light of these findings, more research is needed into cutting-edge treatments and early detection strategies for preventing the progression and the consequences of diabetes mellitus in young people. Keywords: Diabetes, prevalence, young adults, management, risk factors, HbA1c

Proposed Knnxgboost Classification Model Forbreast Cancer Prediction Using Big Data Analysis

Bharathidasan.G and , Dr.A.S.Arunachalam

Year: 2021 | Conference Paper | Publisher: Scitech Conference Xplorer

Abstract:

The breast cancer identification at early stage remains a difficult task for radiologist and researchers who deal with breast cancer identification process. The big data and image processing coupled together makes a remarkable attempt to solve addressed issues in identification process. The procedure followed in big data mining is much related to the process followed in data mining but differs in handling the huge voluminous confidential medical data. The process followed in the early stage of the research is to collect the breast cancer infected data from WBC, were the preprocessing and feature extraction process is carried out for improving the quality of the collected data as well as to increase the efficiency of the featured breast cancer data. The proposed KNN-XGBOOST classification algorithm is implemented further in segmentation and classification process. The procedure helps in classifying the two different classes segmented in feature identification process using proposed PCA-K-mean clustering technique earlier. The severity levels in breast cancer can be easily identified using the proposed KNN-XGBOOST classification algorithm with minimum time. The proposed classification technique is tested with similar classification techniques for finding the accuracy of identification process. The proposed KNN-XGBOOST performance is better than the other existing classification techniques with best time taken for implantation

The Relation Between Personality Traits And Motivation Among Academicians In Higher Education Institutions

Ankita Singh

Year: 2021 | Conference Paper | Publisher: Scitech Conference Xplorer

Abstract:

Introduction: Personality traits are indicative of the motivation levels of academicians in higher education. The Big Five Personality Traits encompass conscientiousness, extraversis to experience, agreeableness, and neuroticism. The Dark Triad comprises the traits of Narcissism, Machiavellianism, and Psychopathy, whereas the Light Triad encompasses Kantianism, Humanism, and Faith in Humanity. Objectives: The study aims to investigate the impact of Big Five, Dark Triad, and Light Triad personality traits on motivation among academicians in higher education. Furthermore, it analyses the ways in which these characteristics serve as incentives for academicians. Design and methodology: The study employs a structured questionnaire to collect data from 534 academicians working in higher education institutions using the survey technique. The Cronbach alpha values for the Big Five, Dark Triad, Light Triad Personality Traits, and Motivation are 0.651, 0.877, 0.772, and 0.714, respectively. SPSS 26.0 was utilised for conducting primary data analysis, specifically for calculating correlation analysis, ANOVA, and regression. Results: There is a favourable correlation between motivation and personality qualities connected to the Big Five and Light Triad. Dark Triad qualities have a negative correlation with motivation. Statistically significant at a significance level of 0.01, considering both tails of the distribution. Motivation increases the Big Five and Light Triad Personality Traits by 0.276 and 0.308, respectively. The Dark Triad Personality Traits exhibit a positive correlation of 0.319 with a drop in Motivation. Keywords: Personality Traits, Big Five, Dark Triad, Light Triad, Motivation, Academicians, Higher Education Institutions.

A Hybrid Network Model For Coverage Hole Detection And Repair Strategy And Cluster-Based Routing In WSN/Iot Environment

Nagesh M

Year: 2021 | Conference Paper | Publisher: Scitech Conference Xplorer

Abstract:

In Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) and Internet of Things (IoT) environments, ensuring comprehensive coverage and efficient data routing are critical for optimal network perfr proposes a hybrid network model that integrates coverage hole detection and repair strategy with cluster-based routing to address these challenges. The coverage hole detection mechanism utilizes a combination of sensor nodes and IoT devices to identify areas with inadequate coverage, while the repair strategy dynamically adjusts node deployment or activates dormant nodes to fill coverage gaps. Concurrently, cluster-based routing enhances data transmission efficiency by organizing sensor nodes into clusters and employing energy-efficient routing protocols. Through simulations and comparative analyses, the effectiveness and scalability of the proposed hybrid network model are evaluated, demonstrating its ability to improve coverage reliability and prolong network lifetime in WSN/IoT environments. Keywords: Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), Internet of Things (IoT), Hybrid network model, Coverage hole detection, Repair strategy, Cluster-based routing, Energy efficiency, Network reliability.

Wastewater Management Through Conceptual Design In Auniversity Community In Nigeria For Optimal Performnace Andenvironmental Protection

Engr.O.J.Oyebode

Year: 2021 | Conference Paper | Publisher: Scitech Conference Xplorer

Abstract:

Environmental issues and contamination of water bodies are traceable to improper wastewater management in developing countries. This paper examined the management of wastiate design that will further improve the quality of wastewater before discharge into the environment. Wastewater Treatment Plant (WTP) was designed through conceptual design and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) code of practice for efficient performance. It consisted of five units of the aerated chamber, clarifier tank, detention tank, filtration tank and chlorination tank, taking into consideration Hydraulic Retention Time (HRT), detention time and Sludge Retention Time (SRT). The capacities of the five units listed were 3.4x1.5x1m3 (aerated chamber), diameter of 15m and depth of 4m (clarifier tank), 3.6x3.6x3m3 (detention tank), 10x5x3m3 (filtration tank), 8.3m diameter and depth of 1m (chlorination tank) with all connected in series. The physicochemical and microbiological parameters of the designed WTP were within National Environmental Standards, Regulation and Enforcement Agency (NESREA) standards. There are a lot of hazards and health issues traceable to improper wastewater management in developing countries. Operational challenges in the design of WTP can be tackled through appropriate water quality indices, hydraulic loading and other important parameters. This designed wastewater treatment plant provided more efficient contaminants reduction in wastewater than the existing facilities.
